Points2Shop Downtime

Today there has been an unexpected and extended downtime on Points2Shop. The problem is due to issues with the datacenter network and a solution is currently being investigated. The Points2Shop Team hopes to return to you very shortly!

I had an offer approve even while the web page was down so I think it is only the web pages that are affected, not the standard tasks like offer approval.

MoreNP.com - Co-authors wanted for UK and Canada

If you have been a member of Points2Shop for awhile and think you would enjoy writing about offers, MoreNP.com is in need of great advice for the UK and Canada!

You will be expected to provide well-written personal input on the best offers and to write or improve offer walkthroughs to tell people how to complete each of the main types of offers that aren't covered in the US section. Information that you share must not include any advice regarding cheating or defrauding the advertisers.

You may write as much as you want whenever you want, articles can be set with a future publish date allowing you to spend a couple hours writing articles for the next week or two. I would prefer at least 10 articles per month to keep the content fresh.

I will be accepting one co-author from the UK and one co-author from Canada. To apply, please email a sample of your writing (anything about a page long is fine) and a quick "why I want to be an author on MoreNP." Please email your application to co-author@morenp.com

Need more motivation? When viewing an article on morenp.com, all referral links on the page (banners, text links, and the Join button at the top) change to the author's Points2Shop account so it is also a great way to get referrals! Just use the "Create link" button at the bottom of your articles to make a short .morenp.com link for each article and share it in the shoutbox or elsewhere on the web!

If you've ever wished there was more info available on your local offers, please consider helping others by becoming a MoreNP co-author!

Help test a new Points2Shop game

Have some free time? Help Points2Shop test out a brand new shooting gallery game that will be making its way to the Games section soon! Instructions can be found below the game.

You can play the game for free on MoreNP as many times as you want, it does not tie in to your Points2Shop account or keep track of scores.

Please post comments to this message if you notice anything weird, especially things like:
  1. inconsistent scoring
  2. inability to reload, hit targets, etc.
  3. any other glitches that interrupt gameplay or allow someone to cheat
  4. looking forward to playing this game for points?
Version 2
There are some changes to look for in version 2:
  1. New reload button stretches across the bottom of the shooting gallery.
  2. Target timing (time to rise up and time before going back down) no longer based on the speed of your computer (frame rate).
  3. Fast-clicking no longer allows more shots than the number of remaining bullet. You may not hear the gun fire 5 times if you try fast-clicking but it is shooting, you're just too fast!
  4. Bullets should not randomly run out.
  5. Targets should always get hit when shot as long as you have bullets and they're not already on the way down, previously on occasion they would not be hit.
  6. Targets should not run out too long before the end of the game (although there may be fewer in the couple moments before the end).
Version 3
There are some changes to look for in version 3:
  1. Game ends when all 50 targets have been seen to avoid issues with the timer ending the game too early.
  2. Timer has been replaced by an indicator of the number of targets remaining.
  3. New low quality graphics mode should reduce lag on old computers when hitting a target (there will be no benefit to medium/fast computers to use this feature).
  4. There are still 4 targets but they will not appear in the same place every time.
  5. All games should last about 35-36 seconds.
Instructions
The shooting gallery is a fast-paced game of both chance and skill. You are awarded game points for each target that you hit, but the closer to a bullseye, the more points you receive!

Be aware that your cork shooter must be reloaded, just click the flashing "Click here to Reload" button in the upper left corner.

Scoring
The bullseye earns 4 points, each consecutive ring earns 1 point less. In addition to the game score, your accuracy score represents how accurate you were. Each missed shot decreases the accuracy by 1 and each hit increases it by as much as 4 (i.e. 3.5 is a near bullseye, .25 is a near miss).

Tiebreaker
In the event of a tie, the person with the highest accuracy score will be awarded the victory.

Note: the "Play Again" feature will not be available on Points2Shop.

MoreNP on Squidoo

MoreNP has a new Squidoo lens up at http://www.squidoo.com/Points2Shop-Cashle with a 1-2-3 guide for finding something you like, learning about Points2Shop, and joining.

If you would like to support MoreNP, please visit the Squidoo page (preferably with your ad blocker turned off)! It doesn't try to cover every aspect of Points2Shop, just the basics - that's what the MoreNP article links are for. This new Squidoo guide to earning points online allows you to interact in some new and interesting ways:
You can also get there with the ever-convenient tiny link: squidoo.morenp.com

There's also another in-progress lens which will just serve to syndicate content from MoreNP. Not exactly sure where that's going at this time.

Public commenting and Switch links to Cashle

Public commenting
Since no one has posted any comments on MoreNP.com, you no longer need a Google/OpenID account to post a comment. Please, if you do have one, log in so you're not anonymous - I would really like to see more commenting.

Switch offer links to Cashle
Also, there is a new feature that allows you to switch all links on the site from Points2Shop to Cashle. If you prefer to earn money on Cashle, now it's easier than ever! To change your settings, just click "Switch links to Cashle.com" and all of the offer links and page links will switch to Cashle, as indicated by the tiny logo icons beside each link and the cash/points display. This setting will remain saved as long as you don't delete your cookies from MoreNP.com.

If you want to be sure someone sees points links or cash links, just add #cash or #points to the end of the web address (so you can send high-paying.morenp.com/#cash in the shoutbox to show them the high paying offers list in cash, the / is optional but the # is not)
